Electromagnetic Compatibility

Objectives:
Students learn how EMC can be considered in an electronic devel-opment. Students are familiar with the EMC regulations and can apply EMC standards.
Lectures:
Fundamentals of EMC, coupling paths, shielding of cables and hous-ings, zone concept, EMC components, development of RFI, EMC-compliant transmission equipment, planning of EMC in device development, EMV-compliant equipment design, EMC design of printed circuit boards and multi-layers, test procedures and standards for EMC testing, CE certification, EMC measurement (Burst, Surge, ESD, HF).
Exercises:
Aim at a deeper understanding of lectures contents. In addition to the lectures the method of current analysis is presented and examined in the context of simple circuits.
Labs:
Introduction to EMC measurement techniques, self-dependent implemen-tation of measurement techniques and laboratory reporting.
