Power Electronics

Objectives:
Students get familiar with properties of different power converters and their applications. They learn to select appropriate components for con-trolled electrical drives and gain knowledge about properties of semiconductors and their basic design procedures.
Lectures:
Microelectronic design of power converters, power semiconductors, converters with thyristors, special aspects of frequency converters, EMC, switching mode power supplies.
Exercises:
Aim at a deeper understanding of the lecture contents.
Labs:
Test set-ups and simulation models of power electronic circuits are ex-amined in more detail than in the lecture.
