Regelungstechnik und Simulation / Control engineering and simulation

Institutsleitung / Director

Professor Thomas Schulte primarily conducts research on real-time and hardware-in-the-loop simulation of energy systems and components. He is the director of the Future Energy Institute since 2017.

After completing his doctorate, Schulte was responsible at dSPACE GmbH as a senior application engineer and team leader for the development of hardware, software and simulation models as well as project implementation for the HIL simulation of electrical drives and power electronics. Since 2010, he manages the control engineering and simulation department (formerly simulation of technical systems) in the electrical engineering and computer engineering department of the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Akademische Ausbildung / Academic education:

Schulte studied electrical engineering at the University of Paderborn and received his doctorate with distinction in 2004 in the electrical engineering department for his work "Power converters and control concepts for ultrasonic traveling wave motors".
