Bauphysik und Technischer Ausbau / Building Physics and Technical Expansion

Stellv. Institutsleitung / Deputy Director

Professor Susanne Schwickert's research focuses on comfort research and energy monitoring of buildings. She has been deputy head of the institute since 2017.

After completing her studies, Schwickert initially worked as a research assistant in the Institute for Concrete Structures at the TU Darmstadt. After completing her doctorate, she was drawn to consulting on building physics. In 2002 she moved from Philipp Holzmann Ingenieurgesellschaft für Bautechnik GmbH to the renowned Munich consultancy MüllerBBM. At the same time, Schwickert hold teaching assignments at the TU Darmstadt for the subjects of acoustics and construction and the environment. Since 2005 she has been responsible for the field of building physics and technical expansion at the Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Design at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (TH OWL). She is a consultant for energy and building physics issues for architects and chambers of engineers in Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia and a member of the research focus "ConstructionLab" at TH OWL.

Akademische Ausbildung / Academic education:

Schwickert completed her studies in civil engineering at the TU Braunschweig, specializing in statics and building physics, in 1996. In 2001 she received her doctorate with distinction at the Institute for Concrete Structures at the TU Darmstadt in the field of energy saving in buildings.
