The iFE

The Future Energy - Institute for Energy Research (iFE) is the first interdisciplinary research institute at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences. The members come from four of the nine faculties and therefore bring with them many competencies and ways of thinking from different disciplines.

Vision: The lived energy transition

For us, the energy transition is not just the mere transition to a resource-conserving energy supply. Living the energy transition means being an initiator and innovator for new ideas and technologies.
This process is equally the task of politics, science, business/industry and society as engines for the implementation of new technologies. The ideal energy system for us is:

  • regenerative,
  • state-of-the-art technology,
  • safe and reliable,
  • created sustainably,
  • accepted by all parties and
  • affordable.

Mission statement: Agile energy solutions

It is our goal to develop efficient, networked and innovative solutions for sustainable energy systems. Our know-how is the competitive advantage of our partners.

Problem-oriented, we develop solutions for industrial and public systems (e.g. production plants, public buildings).

Fair to the environment and future generations, we work on sustainable and resource-saving solutions.

Knowledge is our capital: The scientific excellence of our employees is reflected in the diversity of our projects. We are proud of the promotion of our junior researchers as the designers of the future.

Agile energy research refers to the flexible handling of challenges that arise within the research process. These can be technical, political and/or economic. We approach these without preconceptions and see them as a starting point for further developments.
