Presentation and assessment of various value-based performance indicators

The intention of value-oriented corporate management is to increase the value of equity. The practical relevance of value-based corporate management is confirmed by an empirical study from 2003, in which 97% of the DAX companies surveyed stated that they used a top value-based key figure for corporate management (cf.Aders et al. 2003). However, the multitude of different value-oriented key figure concepts has led to a certain confusion. The aim of this article is to make a structured comparison of six different value-based key figure concepts. The explanations of the concepts are followed by an assessment based on the most important distinguishing features. This can provide an orientation framework for the large number of companies that are involved in the introduction of a value-based control system.
