Research focus

Professor Oliver Stübbe initially conducted research in the field of printed and embedded optical interconnection technology and fiber optic sensor systems. For some years now he has been conducting significant research in the field of novel sensor systems. Here, both comprehensive additively manufactured sensors and industrial sensors embedded in printed medical prototypes are analyzed. Currently he is leading the DFG project AMUSE and the BMWK funded project iORT. Professor Stübbe publishes regularly at national and international conferences, he has authored several papers and book chapters and is co-author of the textbook "Elektrotechnik zum Selbststudium, Grundlagen und Vertiefung".

Professional career

Before his studies, Professor Stübbe trained as a communications electronics technician at Telekom in Gelsenkirchen and worked there. After his studies, he worked at C-LAB, a research facility of Siemens AG and the University of Paderborn. Until his appointment, he was head of the Optical Engineering research group. Here he was involved in the simulation and metrological evaluation of optical transmission and sensor systems as part of various national and international research projects and industrial projects. In October 2012, he was appointed to the OWL University of Applied Sciences.

Academic education

Prof. Stübbe studied electrical engineering at the University of Paderborn. He received his doctorate at the Chair of Theoretical Electrical Engineering there. His dissertation dealt with the time-efficient analysis of the transmission behavior of multi-mode optical waveguides.

Activities in associations and committees:

  • Member of the Faculty Council of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering
  • Chair of the Examination Committee for various degree programmes within the department
  • Former academic governance roles: Senator of OWL university of applied sciences and arts (TH OWL), Associate Dean of the Department
