FES FIELD LAB - Field laboratory for fluid energy storage technology and sector coupling

Duration
-

With the steadily growing share of renewable energies, sector coupling and energy storage are becoming increasingly important. Mainly due to the high energy density, storage in chemical form, e.g. B. for fuel applications, A promising technology.

In order to research the technologies for storing energy in chemical form or through excess pressure in fluids, it is necessary to optimally integrate the many components into real processes and systems depending on the different framework conditions. The field laboratory FES FIELD LAB is a compact, location-independent storage power plant on a pilot scale that can supply itself with renewable energy and thereby enables application-oriented research into various questions of storage technologies for renewable energies, taking into account the sector coupling. It acts as a demonstrator, independently or as part of a pilot plant. Thanks to the mobile concept, the FES FIELD LAB can be used in field trials at different locations.
