Turbomachinery and fluid dynamics

Vorstandsmitglied / Board Member

Research Focus

As part of his research, Professor Georg Klepp examines the increase in energy efficiency of industrial plants and machines, especially turbo machines.

Professional career

During his industrial activity, Klepp dealt with, among other things, the energetic optimisation of flow and reaction control in the process industry and heat management in drive technology, the development and implementation of new concepts for energy management in building technology, optimisation of cooling processes (air cooling) and the development of energy-optimised ones Radial machines, axial machines and screw machines. One focus is the modeling and calculation of different demanding energy and fluidic processes based on the numerical simulations. Since September 2011, he is the head of the laboratory for fluid-flow machines and fluid dynamics in the mechanical engineering and mechatronics department.

Academic education

Klepp studied mechanical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum and received his doctorate in 1999 as a member of the Research Training Group "Modeling Calculation and Identification of Mechanical Systems" at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg for his work "Flow and heat transfer in intensive cooling".
